Some cars are more than transportation. They’re projects, investments, pieces of history, or simply vehicles you’ve spent years searching for and building exactly the way you want.

Based in Albuquerque, Western Assurance Associates serves clients throughout New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, and Arizona. Our team helps enthusiasts explore specialty insurance for classic, collector, imported, and modified vehicles. As an independent agency, we work with specialty insurance providers—including Hagerty and J.C. Taylor—to help find coverage designed around vehicles that may not fit neatly into a standard auto policy.

What types of vehicles may qualify?

Specialty coverage isn’t limited to antiques from decades ago. Depending on the insurance company and how the vehicle is used, eligible vehicles may include:

What is agreed value coverage?

With agreed value coverage, you and the insurance company establish an insured value for the vehicle when the policy is written.

If the car is a covered total loss, the policy is designed to pay that agreed amount, subject to the policy terms and deductible. This can be especially important for restored, rare, imported, or heavily modified vehicles.

What about modifications and aftermarket parts?

If your car has been modified, tell us about it. Wheels, suspension, engine upgrades, custom interiors, paint, bodywork, and other changes can add significant value.

Some specialty programs can accommodate modified vehicles, but eligibility varies. We’ll help you explore coverage that reflects the car you actually own.

Why consider specialty car insurance?

A collector or enthusiast vehicle can be difficult to value like an everyday commuter. Rare models, restorations, modifications, condition, and collector demand can all affect what a car is actually worth.

Specialty insurance is designed with those differences in mind and may offer coverage better suited to vehicles that are driven less frequently and valued differently from ordinary transportation.

Your car deserves coverage that reflects what it is.

Whether it’s a classic, an import, a custom build, or a modern icon, we’re here to find the right coverage for the road ahead.
